Renee Garcia, BS

Renee Garcia is a First Generation-Latina college graduate from the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers-Newark. Graduated in 2023 with Magna Cum Laude honors, Renee majored in Criminal Justice & minored in Political Science during her time at Rutgers. Renee has always had an interest in Criminal Justice & a passion for helping those in need. With aspirations of being a law enforcement officer, she is a huge advocate for being the change she hopes to see in our nation's criminal justice system. Within her college career, she was able to intern at the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the agency in which she hopes to follow the footsteps of her grandfather, the late Sheriff Ralph Froehlich. Currently, Renee works for the Linden Police Department in Linden, NJ as a 9-1-1 dispatcher.

 

Renee was a committed student leader throughout her four years at Rutgers-Newark. Becoming a sister of the first multicultural sorority in the nation, Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc., during her freshman year opened doors to many leadership positions at Rutgers. During her college career, Renee was President of her chapter as well as President for the Inter-Fraternity/Sorority Council for the 2021-2022 academic year. Throughout her four years, she has accomplished many different goals & earned many achievements such as being a part of HACU’s 36th Annual Conference in San Diego, CA, earning the Excellence in Leadership & Legacy Leader awards from the Office of Student Life & Leadership, being inducted into Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society, & earning the Dr. Bil Leipold and Dr. Joe Bertolino Scarlet Promise Grant in which allowed her to take two winter courses and finish her courses a semester early & earn her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. The opportunities Renee encountered during her time at Rutgers were endless, shaping her into the student & leader she is today.
